  • GCC: A Little Malabrigo

A few of the lovely ladies at Friday night’s knit night were working on a pattern that I just had to try, the Star Crossed Slouchy Beret by Natalie Larson. It always seems like a good sign to me when I see 2 or 3 people knitting the same pattern and it comes out looking just right. I’m not necessarily a follower but sometimes a good pattern is a good pattern and Star Crossed is one of the most popular patterns on Ravelry. The pattern was cute, trendy, uses the soft and colourful Malabrigo worsted, and knits up nice and quick. These are a lot of the things I look for in a pattern! I whipped this one up this past weekend.

Once I had finished my Star Crossed hat my charming cousin insisted I make her a slouchy hat too. I thought I would do something a little different so I knit up the Meremaid tam. Her favorite Disney movie is the Little Mermaid so it was a perfect fit. I knit this one up in colours Purple Grapes and Mustard. The more contrast between the two colours for this hat, the better.

To knit the Mermaid Tam you will need:

2 skins of Malabrigo Worsted

5mm needles

Once you have knit a hat or 2 I think you will find you have some leftovers. Or, perhaps you have a little worsted weight yarn just kicking around in your stash. I found this cute little pattern called the Who? ipod cozy by Kayleen Grage. To make this little cutie you will need

The pattern here

A little bit of yarn

3.5mm double pointed needles

2 little buttons

I hope you enjoy a few quick knit slouchy hats!
