Easter Hours

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Just so you know, we’ll be closed in both Point Grey and Edgemont on Easter Sunday.  We’ll be open in both stores on Good Friday from noon – 5:00 p.m. and also on Saturday and Monday this weekend, for regular store hours.

If you’re interested in doing a bit of Easter knitting or crocheting, we have  a few ideas for you.  Garnstudios has a nice collection of Easter decorating patterns right here, including bunnies, chicks and some colourful easter eggs.  Allan Dart, designer of knitted toys, has a very cute chicken and egg pattern posted on his site.  And Julie Williams has a sweet Bunny Egg Cosy pattern posted at the Lulu Marketplace.   Any of these would make great little Easter gifts for your favourite child.

And though it has nothing to do with Easter, we thought you’d be interested in hearing about the remarkable 98 year old grandmother who was trapped in the rubble during the recent earthquake in Italy.  She whiled away the time crocheting while waiting 30 hours to be rescued.  Have to admire her resourcefulness!

Mitten Madness

Alexa’s been knitting marvellous mittens:

Pair after pair, she can’t stop herself.  The pattern is Fiddlesticks Mittens from Hello Knits.  And they’re now hanging over the fireplace at our Point Grey shop, drawing gasps of delight from everyone who sees them:

Alexa used BSA Melange and Sportweight, with Brushed Suri for the lining.  Check out her blog for more photos and info.

Want to learn how to knit some marvellous mitts of your own?  Alexa will be teaching a class starting Tuesday, April 14, from 7 – 9 p.m.  You’ll find more information about all our upcoming classes right here.

Have a fabulous sunny weekend!
