“Sweet yarns for real life”.  Gorgeous luxury yarns with an ultra-soft touch and a beautiful colour palette, together with a fantastic pattern collection.

Say hello to Sweater:

A beautiful aran weight superwash wool/organic cotton blend.  With loads of fabulous designs

Grab a skein of Sweater, a tennis ball for stuffing and knit Ribbit

Ribbit’s more fun than most stuffed toys cuz he bounces when tossed!

Greetings to Fine:

A fingering weight superwash wool/silk blend.  One skein’s enough for an average sized pair of adult socks.  There are several Fine designs.

And a warm welcome to  Outer:

A super bulky superwash wool/organic cotton blend that will knit up very quickly on big needles.  You guessed it, there are also some great Outer designs.

We currently have a small trunk show of Spud and Chloe samples in our Point Grey store.  And yes, we have all nineteen patterns in stock.

Knitters Review recently raved about Spud and Chloe.  We think you’ll agree.   Better check it out…

Sweet Summertime

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

Before we head back outside  to soak up more glorious sunshine, have a look at what we’ve been knitting lately.  We seem to be drawn to enormous zen-like projects…

Anina recently finished the gorgeous Shipwreck:

A close-up:

An easy to follow pattern, beautiful Cherry Tree Hill Supersock Select yarn, great addi lace needles and 4,000 beads.  A perfect zen project for summer…

She also finished Jared Flood’s beautiful Girasole:

Another stunner.  Knit with the lovely Cascade Pastaza:

Love the beautiful, intense colour range.  Have a look at more of Anina’s finished projects on her Ravelry site.

I recently finished a Colinette Perugino blanket that was a joy to knit:

Loved it so much I started another right away.

As mentioned yesterday, I’m also half-way through a Stashbuster Blanket.  An extremely fun project that’s a great way to take a bite out of your stash.  We were inspired by the Stitch Diva’s stashbuster:

If you’re intrigued by this project, consider signing up for Kalin’s upcoming Stashbuster class.  For more details, have a look at our Summer Lesson Schedule.

Talk about inspiration, the blanket-master, Natalie, has done it again:

A random mix of different yarns in a pattern of her own design.  Awesome.

Warning:  Blog posts will be sporadic for awhile as we enjoy some lazy summer days.  Hope you have lots of time to enjoy your hooks and needles in the sweet summertime…

New Lessons

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

We’ve just posted a new summer lesson schedule.  There are loads of options for expanding your knitting and crochet know-how.

If you’d like to learn to knit, we have Beginner Knitting classes starting in Point Grey on Thursday, July 9 and in Edgemont on Wednesday, July 15.  Both sessions will be taught by the ever-popular Sandra Dunkin.  If you’d rather take up crochet, register for Deanna’s Beginners Crochet class that starts on Monday, July 6 in Point Grey.

If you’d prefer a project-based class, have a look at Alexa’s Fiddlehead Fair Isle Mitten Class starting on Tuesday, July 14 or Sivia’s Norwegian Lace Shawl Class starting on Wednesday, July 15.  Or learn to crochet a blanket, Tunisian style, in Kalin’s Stashbuster Blanket class on Sunday, July 18.  I’m half-way through a Stashbuster behemoth and I think it’s one of the funnest projects ever.  A cozy melange of colour and texture and a wonderful way to use up part of your stash.  Photos will follow soon, I promise…

Our special this week is Rowan Classic Cashsoft DK at 40% off the regular price.  A velvety soft cashmere and merino blend in a lovely subtle colour palette.  The pattern possibilities are endless…

And our Hundreds of Balls event continues to entice local bargain hunters.   We’ve dropped prices again this week, there are some incredible deals.  Check out Dazzle and New Smoking at $2.99 and Naturgarn at only $1.99.  The entire list is right here.  If there’s anything you have to have, don’t delay, as quantities of many items are very limited…
